The Tornado Bus Co. driver, who cause the four fatality wreck in Arkansas on Nov. 25, 2007, has been charged with four counts of negligent homicide. He tested positive for amphetamines. Tornado was placed Out of Service by FMCSA on December 27, 2007 for being an imminent hazard. Amphetamines are used as a stimulant, and can be used to help drivers stay awake. Speculating here…. Tornado was running its drivers too many hours, so this driver was probably using amphetamines to help him stay awake. Was the accident caused by the drugs? Probably not, it was probably caused by him being fatigued. If you’re pushing too hard, at a certain point nothing is going to keep you awake.
